Our Approach to Responsible Lending
At Armstrongs Finance Limited, responsible lending is about helping customers obtain finance and insurance products that are appropriate for their circumstances and can be comfortably maintained over time.
We are committed to treating customers fairly and complying with our obligations under the Credit Contracts and Consumer Finance Act 2003, the Financial Markets Conduct Act 2013 and other applicable laws and regulations.
When assisting customers, we take reasonable steps to understand their circumstances, objectives and financial position so that we can recommend suitable options from our panel of lenders and insurance providers.
Understanding Our Customers
Before recommending a finance or insurance product, we take reasonable steps to understand:
- Your objectives and requirements
- Your financial position and commitments
- Your ability to meet repayment obligations
- The purpose of the finance being sought
- Any other information relevant to your circumstances
This helps us identify products and lenders that may be suitable for your needs.
Lender and Insurance Provider Selection
Armstrongs Finance works with a selected panel of lenders and insurance providers.
We do not represent every lender or insurance provider available in the market.
When recommending a lender or product, we consider the information provided by the customer and identify options that we believe are suitable for their circumstances. Where appropriate, we may discuss multiple options with a customer before they make a decision.
Affordability and Suitability
We believe finance should be both suitable and affordable.
As part of the application process, we may review information relating to income, expenses, existing commitments and other relevant factors to help determine whether a product is appropriate for the customer.
The final lending decision remains the responsibility of the lender.
Fees and Commissions
Armstrongs Finance may receive commissions from lenders, insurers and other product providers when finance or insurance products are arranged through us.
We may also receive fees associated with arranging certain products or services.
Customers may also incur fees charged by lenders, insurers or other product providers.
Any applicable fees, commissions or other remuneration will be disclosed in accordance with our legal and regulatory obligations.
Customer Responsibilities
To assist us in providing suitable recommendations and services, customers should:
- Provide complete and accurate information
- Disclose any information that may be relevant to their application
- Advise us of any significant changes to their circumstances
- Carefully review all documentation before signing
- Ask questions if they are unsure about any aspect of a product or agreement
Customers Requiring Additional Assistance
We recognise that some customers may require additional assistance during the application process.
Where we identify that a customer may be experiencing financial hardship, vulnerability, language barriers or other circumstances that may affect their understanding of a product or service, we will take reasonable steps to ensure they have sufficient opportunity to ask questions and make informed decisions.
